British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program: Business Immigration Stream / Entrepreneur Immigration Program

What is it?

British Columbia is a crossroads of many cultures. Its entrepreneurs benefit from its strategic location on Canada’s west coast, low taxes, competitive operating costs, and a multicultural workforce. Due to its location, it is a natural destination for many immigrants from around the world.

Requirements

An applicant must meet the following requirements in order to enroll in the program:

Have a personal net worth of at least C $ 600,000.


Possess management experience in one of the following ways:

1. More than three years as an active owner-manager of a company.
2. More than four years as a senior manager.
3. A combination of at least one year as an active owner-manager of a business and at least two years as a senior manager.
4. Minimum of two years of postsecondary education, or have been an active owner-manager of a 100% -owned business for at least three of the past five years.


Show that an eligible personal investment of at least $ 200,000 CAD will be made in the proposed business.
Show that the proposed business will create at least one new full-time equivalent permanent job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.


A short business concept that will be awarded points based on proposed business viability, transferability of the applicant’s skills, and financial benefits.


If a key staff member is included (who does not have company ownership or an equity interest of less than 10%), the eligible personal investment is set to a minimum of $ 400,000 CAD and a total of three must be made. new full-time equivalent jobs.

Benefits

The British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration Program is aimed at prospective immigrants who wish to start or establish a business in the province. The government invites people who have registered under the program to submit an application with their business plan, after which a two-year work permit is issued for accepted applicants to implement the business as planned. Successful candidates receive a nomination under the PNP and are allowed to apply for permanent resident status. After meeting the residency requirements, applicants can apply for citizenship.

The process

3. Apply to the program with required forms and completed supporting documents, cover applicable fees, and hire a qualified provider to prepare a wealth report and attend an interview.

4. Once approved, the applicant is invited to sign a performance agreement and will be issued a confirmation letter to obtain a work permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

5. Obtain a work permit valid for 2 years and implement the business plan in BC. Once the performance agreement requirements are met within 20 months of signing, a final report is sent to the interim candidate program.

6. The provincial government nominates the selected applicants and issues an acceptance letter that allows them to apply for permanent residence to Canadian citizenship and immigration.
